Smartypants

Leftovers III.  Those little smartypants.  They're going to Purdue in the fall.   They'll be part of an international print exhibition, Exchange III, curated by fellow Leftovers III chef, Monica Farrar, and her colleagues Kathryn Reeves, Lisa Wicka and LaToya Hobbs. The exhibition will be held at the Rueff Galleries at Purdue in Lafayette, Indiana September 10-22.

And to introduce our first exhibition of Leftovers III, here's Arizona printmaker Kathryn Polks' print, Overeducated Women:

We'll keep you posted of future exhibitions!  And we'll be posting the remaining 152 Leftovers sometime soon.

Next Stop: Wales

Leftovers II has been invited to Wales!  Yes, they will be packed up soon to take a little trip to Swansea, Wales for an exhibition at Swansea Print Workshop and opening July 17.  Then, come August 10, they'll find a postbox and send the back to Boise.

Meanwhile, we'll be posting images of the Leftovers III portfolio on the blog.  Just a few each day. The prints have all been scanned, but they need to be cropped, and identified.  It's a big task, but won't it be fun to see the whole smorgasbord?  Yeah, we think so, too!

Bon voyage you saucy little Leftovers II.  Hmm, I wonder if we could get them some frequent flyer miles?

Deliver the Letter! The Sooner the Better

I know you haven't seen a post in a while.  A long, long while.  That's because we've been busy. Whew!  You know. Get 'er done.  And we did -  get' er done!

We started with a totally empty slate.  Well, empty table.  TableS.  Lots of empty tables. A gzillion empty tables.

Enough to hold over 150 editions of delicious leftovers.  And with the help of the dedicated leftover crew we collated, stamped, packaged, stuffed, dadadada da and this is what just one box of collated, stamped, packaged, stuffed, dadadadada da looked like, before we added the delivery confirmations.

And then there were the the international leftovers.   They needed USPS custom declarations. And they got 'em!  Youbetcha.

Now, imagine being behind us in line at the USPS as the nice man behind the counter tallied, calculated, reweighed, stamped and documented each and every package on its international merry way.

So, the next thing that's about to happen is to get all the scans of all the Leftovers uploaded to this blog.   So give me a week or two, or three to catch my breath and I'll do just that.  Meanwhile, set the table, sit back, and enjoy the 12 course feast about to hit a mailbox near you.

Y'all come back now, y'hear?

The Wrecking Crew

They were here today.  The wrecking crew.  Did I say wrecking crew?  I mean the wrapping crew, or the packing crew, but certainly not the wrecking crew. I should really call them the ziploc packing wrapping crew.   You know, Leftover triage.  You see, you may have "heard" what happens when the prints first arrive.  But WAIT!  There's more.

The next step is to cull prints "one"  and "two" from the edition of fourteen and get them packaged for upcoming exhibitions and our auction.  This is where we count 'em.  Yeah, we count 'em.  To make sure there are 14 - and we are ever so pleasantly surprised to find an extra print slipped in to the mix.  Not to mention your treasured stories, precious notes, valued compliments and delightful anecdotes.

Then we file 'em again.  Alphabetically.  I'm partial to filing by first names, because I would never call you Ms. Giraud, Mr. Baum or Professor Fitterer.  I'd like to think if you were right here, at Wingtip, I'd say "Wow, Patricia . . . Hey Michael . . . Aww, Jill!"  Yes, we file 'em.  In two files.  One file for the remaining 12 prints to be collated and shipped, and another file of two individually bagged prints to be labeled for exhibitions and our auction.

So! Many, many, many, many thanks to  Josie and Katherine and Katherine who earned their ziploc packing/wrapping crew badges today.

So now you know where we are.  Well, you sort of know where we are.  What you don't know is that I have barely begun to type your address labels yet.  But as soon as I do, I will call in the collating crew.  And after that . . . before you know it . . . you'll have a dozen tantalizing Leftovers in your mailbox just waiting to be devoured.  I mean savored.  Mmp, map, mmmmmmmmmmmm.

You oughta be in pictures!

You oughta be in pictures, You’re wonderful to see, You oughta be in pictures, Oh what a hit you would be! Your voice would thrill a nation, Your face would be adored, You’d make a great sensation with wealth and fame your reward;

Okay, so maybe not the pictures, but how about the newspaper?
Here's the review of our Leftovers II exhibition from the New Zealand Bay Chronicle!

Not bad, if I do say so myself!

Time to Get the Hook

Or better yet, get the Dunce Cap!

And I deserve it!   A little public humiliation for not thinking before I blog.   I erroneously
and falsely exclaimed in my last post that I had received my first EVER package from Australia.  Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.  The truth of the matter is there were several priorly perfectly posted packaged prints placed within reasonable proximity of the photographed package in the prior post and I, I, I pugnaciously perpetrated a falsehood.  No excuses. I blew it.  There. There. I said it.  And my most humble apologies.

There's a First Time for Everything!

Yup.  I knew it was coming.  So, I shouldn't have even been that surprised.  But when I went to the mailbox today, there it was!  My first, EVER, package from Australia.  And just because you may have never received a package from Australia before either, I will share it with you:

And, yes, it was filled with just a little bit late Leftovers!  (Who's going to turn down prints from Australia!)  And are you wondering what those yellow stripes are in the background on the lefthand side?  I was.  I took the photo on my light table, so the stripes are the bulbs!

Oh, I started making address labels today - oh, and print labels for our upcoming exhibitions and auctions.   And, yup.  I still have some scanning to do.  A lot of Leftover scanning to be honest.  So,  I may be calling on a few of you lucky local leftover loving labeling lads and lassies to come give me a little hand.  Because, you see,  the collating doesn't start until ALL the labels are done.

Later . . .
